
MEP urges Remain supporters to vote for the Lib Dems in Euro elections
A South West of England MEP who left the Conservative Party over Brexit is calling on Remain voters to back the Liberal Democrats in the European elections. Julie Girling, who has served the region in the European Parliament for the last 10 years, said the Liberal Democrats were the strongest Remain party in the South West. Even though sitting Green MEP Molly Scott-Cato opposes Brexit, Ms Girling said it the Liberal Democrats who has the best chance of winning a seat in the elections on May 23. "The Liberal Democrats scored a huge success in last week's local elections, gaining more than 160 seats across the South West," Ms Girling, pictured left with Gloucestershire Lib Dem leader Paul Hodgkinson, said.
