About

The Liberal Democrats and its predecessor parties have a long history of liberalism in Gloucester. The first Liberal MP was elected to represent the city in 1859 and continued for the next 50 years. As of May 2024 the Liberal Democrats form the administration running the city council and in May 2025 took control of the county council. The Longlevens and Elmbridge areas are also represented by a Liberal Democrat MP, Cameron Thomas.
