Councillor Caroline Courtney and Joshua Hanley are part of the Liberal Democrat team for Tuffley.

Caroline, who lives on Stroud Road near to St Barnabas Church, was first elected to the city council in May 2021. She is the cabinet member for culture and leisure.

Joshua Hanley grew up in Tuffley, went to local schools and is now raising his family here.

He is a sports coach and has helped run local football teams.

Speaking at the World Toilet Summit in Belfast, Birmingham Yardley Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming has hit out at the 6,000 deaths a day caused by poor sanitation Mr. Hemming said "The government like to look for complex solutions to simple problems. Half of the children that die in the developing world die from diarrhoeal diseases. That is around 6,000 children a day dying from entirely preventable diseases."
