Rebecca Trimnell is the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Gloucester

Meet Parliamentary candidate Rebecca Trimnell

Well known and popular local councillor Rebecca Trimnell was the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Gloucester at the 2024 General Election.

The mother of one represents Westgate on the city council and is the cabinet member for community engagement in the newly-elected Liberal Democrat administration running Gloucester City Council.

In her portfolio she has responsibility for the nighttime economy, community engagement and safety, shopmobility, licensing, the armed forces covenant and health, wellbeing and safeguarding.

Rebecca topped the poll in Westgate at the recent local elections in May - just a year after first being elected to the council - and lives in the city close to St Oswald's Priory.

The Lib Dems became the largest party on Gloucester City Council with 17 seats to form the ruling cabinet. They also beat the Conservatives and Labour in the popular vote.

And left the struggling Labour Party with just seven councillors in the city.

Rebecca works for a charity helping people with dementia and has previously worked in social care, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, helping some of our city’s most vulnerable.

She also has a strong record of voluntary work, including as a trained Samaritan volunteer and a mental health first aider.
