The Lib Dems are working with allotment holders on their plans to improve the Estcourt Close allotments.

Initially the allotment committee wants to develop better facilities, such as toilets, an undercover communal rest area, a disabled parking area and improved wheelchair access.

In the long-term the committee wants to introduce a communal growing tunnel, have storage for the hiring of machinery and develop and butterfly and bee garden.

Sarah Sawyer said: "The allotments are a valuable community asset and we want to see them get even better.

"We fully support the committee's efforts in applying for grants and we will do all we can to help them obtain the funding they need to turn their plans into reality. "We have asked officers from the city council to meet with the committee to discuss their plans."
