School parking problems

Parking issues continue around the ward with complaints from residents about traffic and parking near Tommy Rich's school and Elmbridge school.

Councillor Howard Hyman met senior staff at Tommy Rich's school to ask if they could ensure that coaches did not wait outside the school and cause traffic disruption.

Coaches are now being encouraged to park at Elmbridge Court until they are ready to pick up passengers.

An agreement has also been made for car drivers to park at Old Richians RFC when events are on at the school and the rugby club is not being used.

PSCOs have also been asked to patrol other areas near Elmbridge School and the Leazes to ensure that people are not parking illegally.

Councillor Hyman said: "I'm pleased I was able to meet with staff at Tommy Rich's on behalf of residents and reiterate the issues caused by large coaches to local residents."
