Residents raise concerns about traffic rat run in Longlevens

20 Jul 2018

Residents have raised concerns that Wellsprings Road and Rydal Road could be used as rat runs when Oxstalls Lane closes to traffic from Cheltenham Road.

The junction of Oxstalls Lane and Cheltenham Road will be closed to all traffic from August 2 until March 13 2019.

This is to allow the completion of highways works which began earlier this year as part of the University of Gloucestershire Oxstalls campus redevelopment.

A diversion will be established to allow cars to access Oxstalls Lane via Church Road but residents are concerned motorists will instead use Wellsprings Road and Rydal Road.

They contacted Willmott Dixon, the construction firm which is building the new business school, who confirmed they had spoken to the council about it.

They are looking at putting temporary signage at the entrance to Rydal Road and Wellsprings Road restricting it to residents' access only.
