Recycling chaos hits Gloucester

Lib Dems and the Amey household recycling mess

Changes introduced to household recycling just two weeks before Christmas has caused disruption across Gloucester.

There have been reports of missed collections and recycling left strewn all over the place by the city council's waste contractor Amey.

If recycling has not been sorted properly following the introduction of the new rules then it is not being collected at all.

Councillor Jeremy Hilton, leader of Gloucester Liberal Democrats, said: "I can understand why these changes have been introduced but just before Christmas is daft.

"The blue sacks are not waterproof and the council has also run out of sacks for the many residents that have asked for another one.

"A Liberal Democrat-run city council would replace Amey."
