Priory Road air quality must be improved says Rebecca Trimnell

20 Jun 2018

In 2005 Priory Road was declared an air
quality management area (AQMA) because
of the high level of air pollution from vehicle
emissions.
Since 2005, the local councils have done little
to sort out the problem. Air quality has not
improved.
Local county councillor, Jeremy Hilton has
chaired a task group at Shire Hall about
pollution from vehicles, concentrating on
nitrogen oxides and particulate matter.
His group has just reported back with a 12-
point action plan. It was approved by the Environment
Committee.
Rebecca Trimnell said: "Exposure to air pollution can
adversely affect people's health and quality of life.
"I'm very disappointed that so little has been done by
the Tory run city and county councils to reduce vehicle
air pollution. However, the Lib Dems have taken up the
challenge.
