Liberal Democrats call for an increased focus on repairing local roads
The Liberal Democrats are calling for an increased focus on repairing local roads ahead of the winter period.
The Tories have been in charge at Shire Hall for 13 years and in that time the county's roads have deteriorated with potholes appearing all over Gloucestershire.
Years of under-investment means there is a backlog of repairs of well over £80 million.
The budget for roads is around £30million and the local minor works budget has been slashed by 31%.
Quedgeley Liberal Democrat campaigner Liam Harries said: "Residential roads in Quedgeley are a mess.
"Along Severnvale Drive towards Field Court Drive, of the eight residential junctions on the left, seven have multiple potholes.
"The others are cracking which will soon worsen as we enter the winter period."
He added: "A couple are especially bad, you can see where previous attempts at repairs have not resolved the issues."
Mr Harries would like Quedgeley residents to report potholes or worn out footways to him so that he can challenge the county council to fix them.
