Kings Square should be a place to be proud says Rebecca Trimnell

20 Jun 2018

Kings Square has remained a
dull and dated open space in
heart of the city centre.
Liberal Democrats have been
critical of both Labour and
Conservative administrations of
the city council for their failure
to look after the square.
There were plans to build on it in
early stages of the Kings Quarter
project, but those plans were
abandoned.
Spotlight has learnt that the
consultants now working for the city
council expect to publish their
proposal for Kings Square in July,
with a planning application due for
September.
Rebecca Trimnell said: "The
council must be aspirational with
its regeneration plan.
"Kings Square must become a
place of arrival and connection.
"A place where people want to
linger. It must be a welcoming,
vibrant and contemporary space.
"The Kings Square can if done
right tell a story of Gloucester
that everyone will always be proud.
"The new Kings Square must live
up to its name."
