It's The Little Things - June 2018

- "Shower caps" for recycle boxes - a new plastic cover for
recycle boxes is on trial across Gloucester on a 'first come first
served basis'. This pull-string cover fits tightly over the box
and is more secure in windy conditions than the existing hard
plastic lids. If you wish to try out these covers then contact
David.
Thanks to feedback from a local resident and prompt action
from Declan Wilson the traffic control light for cyclists at the
end of the alleyway from Duncroft Road to Barnett Way is
now safely in position. Declan said, "incredibly the light was
replaced facing the wrong direction, following work on a
nearby fence. The consequences could have been very
serious. Thankfully I was made aware promptly and urgent
repairs were made."
- Glenville Parade Crossing : local concern about the
pedestrian approach to this crossing remains and David is
persisting in working towards improvements with the helpful
support of Gloucestershire Highways and Management at the
Wagon & Horses.
Grounds maintenance - following the experiment last year
when the City Council decided to change the grass cutting
rota to 6 weeks David Brown asked for reassurance that this
would not be repeated! Council Officers confirmed that the
grass cutting rota would be kept at a 3 week cycle. However,
there have been a number of areas at the start of this 'season'
where work was delayed and David has pressed for these to
be attended to, where they have come to his attention.
- The little things matter too: your
local Lib Dem Councillors understand
the importance of fixing issues that
some may consider minor. This
includes damaged road signs and
street name signs, faulty street lights
and repainting faded road markings.
Please bring these issues to our
attention so that we may bring about
the improvements we all want to see.
