Inconsiderate parking at Swallow Park

19 Aug 2019

The parking issues in Swallow Park have been reported in previous Spotlights but despite the painting of new yellow lines in some of the key areas, drivers have continued to cause problems for frustrated residents.

Cars have been parked in such an inconsiderate way that it leaves no space for cars to pass between them leaving residents unable to get in or out of their own street.
County Councillor Jeremy Hilton said: "These motorists have been breaking the highway code by blocking access and egress onto the estate at the top of Hamer Street.

"Action has been taken by the enforcement officers.

"I have also had a walkabout with a traffic regulation officer to look at some amendments to the yellow lines on the estate and these will now be worked up into traffic order."
Elmbridge Councillor Emily Ryall said: "It beggars belief that drivers can be so ignorant of the chaos and frustration they cause to residents by leaving their cars blocking roads.

"Just because there is no yellow line does not mean it is an appropriate place to park a car."
Councillor Howard Hyman added: "We will continue to keep an eye on the situation and report cases to the authorities when they arise."
