Farook says thank you for everything: Community leads the way during Covid-19 pandemic
The Liberal Democrats want to say thank you to everyone in Hempsted and Westgate who have helped other members of the community over the last few months.
Coronavirus is the biggest peacetime crisis our country has faced in generations.
And in tough times the people of Hempsted and Westgate pulled together to help each other - especially the most vulnerable.
The Liberal Democrats have worked with communities across Gloucester over the last few months.
Hundreds of people volunteered to represent their street and help elderly and vulnerable neighbours.
Farook Mota, one of the two volunteer coordinators of the Hempsted Virtual Kindness Group (HVKG), said: "The way the community pulled together in Westgate and Hempsted during the lockdown was brilliant.
"People helped their neighbours who were self-isolating with shopping and collecting
prescriptions. A big thank you also to the Gordon League Rugby Football Club for being a food parcel drop off point and to my friends in the HVKG."
Farook was also the lead contact at the local Lloyds Pharmacy at Sainsbury's Gloucester
Quays and coordinated or personally delivered prescriptions to people in the shielding category throughout Hempsted and Westgate.
Farook added: "The continuity of free school meals at the start of lockdown was really appreciated and thanks to Becca O'Neil from Hempsted for coordinating & distributing."
