Even defibrillators need a check up

17 Jul 2020

In his role as 'defibrillator guardian' Councillor David Brown carries out a monthly check on the status of the devices at Lloyds Pharmacy and St Philip & St James in Larkhay Road.

These devices can be life savers when used to apply a measured electric shock to restore the rhythm of the heart in an emergency.

When David carried out the checks at the beginning of May he was concerned at a warning message on one.

He said: "I was particularly concerned as the country was in the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic and we needed this to be working 100% more than ever.

"I was extremely impressed with the support from the supplier and a temporary replacement was delivered immediately."
