Double Gloucester planning application latest

5 Jul 2018

On the 8th February the city council received a planning application (18/00178/COU) to convert the former Double Gloucester pub into 14 apartments with associated parking. It has yet to determine the application.

County Councillor Jeremy Hilton said: "Besides the loss of a public house and the community facilities it once provided, the other concern raised by local residents is about protecting the footpath from Colebridge Avenue to Cheltenham Road.

"This footpath is used by residents of Merevale Road and Colebridge Avenue to access the bus services and local supermarket on Cheltenham Road.

"The documents received as part of the application show a protected route for the footpath. This is good news as it isn't currently a public footpath."

Spotlight has also learnt that the county council has received an application to amend the Definitive Map (reference number 573/11/99(8)) to make it a public right of way.

Councillor Emily Ryall added: "This is excellent news. It was important to preserve this well used footpath and I'm very pleased we have managed to do so."
