The Longlevens Spotlight team of Councillor Linda Castle, Councillor Sarah Sawyer and Luke Shervey report back on a range of issues.
Councillors in Longlevens are allocated money each year to spend on projects in the local area.
This year Councillors Linda Castle and Sarah Sawyer have given money to Longlevens Scout Group towards the cost of buying a new trailer to help them transport kit.
They also donated funds to Gala Wilton’s Football Club to buy first aid kits and a slow sign for the residents of Fairmile Gardens.
Funding has also been awarded to Longlevens infant and junior schools for the purchase of grit boxes for use when there is snow and ice.
“We welcome hearing from any resident who might wish us to help,” said Councillor Castle.
The Lib Dem team asked the county council to conduct a safety assessment of local trees.
Several trees around Estcourt Close have been classed as unsafe or diseased and a couple have been felled as a result. The tree stumps will be bored down and replaced or covered over.
“If a felled tree is not replaced, then two will be planted in a more suitable area,” said Luke Shervey.
Potholes in Oxstalls Drive, Garden Way, Oxstalls Way, Longford Lane, Beaumont Road and Little Normans have been reported to Highways for repair.
