Westgate Councillor Rebecca Trimnell and Spotlight editor Ola Kareem report back on a range of issues.
Rebecca contacted Gloucester Cathedral about the poor state of the archway onto St Mary’s Square.
It was deep cleaned within 24 hours to get rid of the smell of urine, which was particularly bad during the hot weather.
A pop-up vape shop that appeared on two disabled parking bays at Gloucester Quays has been removed following a complaint by Rebecca.
“The long-term health effects of vaping are unknown and there are concerns over the number of young people taking up the habit, many felt uncomfortable when this mobile shop first appeared,” said Rebecca.
The Lib Dem team has requested that a litter bin is installed at a bus stop on St Ann’s Way and got a blocked drain on Priory Road cleared.
A no through road sign has been requested at Kiln Close following a request from the Lib Dem team. They have also asked Highways to investigate introducing speed restrictions for Spring Meadow Rise into Honeythorne Close.
They are also pushing for the reopening of the St Mary De Crypt churchyard, which closed for maintenance work. A tidy-up of the St Oswald’s area, including hedgerows has been completed.
