
Lib Dems slam Labour’s Merseyside fire cuts
Liberal Democrats have called on Merseyside’s Labour MPs and council leaders to stand up to the Government, after Merseyside Fire Service was hit with a £650,000 funding cut.
Councillor Caroline Courtney and Joshua Hanley are part of the Liberal Democrat team for Tuffley.
Caroline, who lives on Stroud Road near to St Barnabas Church, was first elected to the city council in May 2021. She is the cabinet member for culture and leisure.
Joshua Hanley grew up in Tuffley, went to local schools and is now raising his family here.
He is a sports coach and has helped run local football teams.

Scottish Liberal Democrat research recently found that 96% of Scottish adults who are worried about the cost of heating have changed how they heat their homes this winter, to help keep bills lower.
With the Labour government forcing thousands of people to choose between heating and eating with the removal of the Winter Fuel Allowance, Portsmouth's Lib Dem-led council doubles down on efforts to support the most vulnerable people in our community.
Commenting on the press conference between Starmer and Trump, Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper MP said:
Unpalatable choices have been forced on all councils as they struggle with increased demand for services, especially in adults and children’s social care, and rising costs in the delivery of those services.
Last Thursday, 20th February, there was a full council meeting to set the council’s budget for the next financial year and as a result, I find myself reflecting on the state of local politics.
