Councillor Caroline Courtney and Joshua Hanley are part of the Liberal Democrat team for Tuffley.

Caroline, who lives on Stroud Road near to St Barnabas Church, was first elected to the city council in May 2021. She is the cabinet member for culture and leisure.

Joshua Hanley grew up in Tuffley, went to local schools and is now raising his family here.

He is a sports coach and has helped run local football teams.

Mike Carr has been selected by local Liberal Democrat members as their prospective Parliamentary candidate. He won a closely fought contest in which all local members had a vote. Mike lives in the constituency and has a wealth of experience.

Massive Response to Axe the Tax Petition

Mid Sussex Liberal Democrats were campaigning amongst shoppers in Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill on Saturday morning to get rid of Council Tax and its replacement with a fair alternative based on ability to pay. Serena Tierney, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Mid Sussex , said: "In two hours nearly 500 people signed a petition in favour of for the replacement of Council Tax with a local income tax. At times people were queuing to sign the petition."

Flooding - Scotland taking right approach

Welcoming the Scottish Executive's announcement of tightened restrictions on development in flood plains, Nora Radcliffe MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrat Environment Spokesperson, said pre-emptive action was the only way to minimise the risk of the misery of flooding.
