Recycling Figures Unfair To Best Councils- Doughty
Commenting on the release of recycling figures today, Liberal Democrat Defra Spokesperson, Sue Doughty MP said:
Councillor Caroline Courtney and Joshua Hanley are part of the Liberal Democrat team for Tuffley.
Caroline, who lives on Stroud Road near to St Barnabas Church, was first elected to the city council in May 2021. She is the cabinet member for culture and leisure.
Joshua Hanley grew up in Tuffley, went to local schools and is now raising his family here.
He is a sports coach and has helped run local football teams.

Liberal Democrat Shadow Fisheries Minister, Andrew George M.P. and Mike Treleaven, Totnes Prospective Parliamentary Candidate today had a useful and constructive meeting with Rick Smith, chairman of Brixham Trawler Agents and Jim Portus, Chief Executive of South West Fish Producers Organisation. During the meeting they explored a wide range of issues including the Common Fisheries Policy, dolphin deaths, fish quotas, regulation, satellite monitoring and co-operation with scientists.
The local Liberal Democrat Focus Team in Springvale recently welcomed former Councillor Sandra Terry to the SpringVale team. Sandra brings a great deal of experience to SpringVale having been on the Council for four years representing Fallings Park ward. It will also mean that if any of the local SpringVale residents wish to speak to a female representative they now have that opportunity. Cllr Richard Whitehouse said, "I am sure Sandra will help to provide an even stronger team for the benefit of all our residents."
At the recent Spring Conference in Harrogate a number of policies were updated and improved this included policy action on affordable housing, tackling crime, employment rights, Post Office closures, improving life for older people, council tax, Iraq, civil liberties, children, education and health.
The Fairtrade Foundation has declared 1 to 13 March as its "Fairtrade Fortnight". In Epsom, members of the local steering group will be canvassing support in the High Street on Saturday 12 March. This steering group was set up by Cllr Jonathan Lees, following the refusal of Epsom & Ewell Council to support proposals to make Epsom a "Fairtrade Town".
Lib Dem campaigner Peter Carroll is writing to over 6,000 households on Romney Marsh asking them to support his opposition to the proposed massive expansion of Lydd Airport.
