Podsmead councillor takes action on street nameplate problem

February 16, 2021 10:59 AM

Sebastian Field and the incorrect street signPodsmead's city councilor is calling for action on an inaccurate street nameplate in his ward.

Councillor Sebastian Field was contacted by a resident of Laburnum Road in the Oakland's Park area of the ward who pointed out that the street sign at the entrance to Laburnum Road says 'Laburnum Road 2-54 Evens'.

The resident said there is a number 56 as well, so the name plate is incorrect.

Councillor Field, who represents the Liberal Democrats, said: "As soon as I heard about this, I contacted the city council who have ordered a new name plate to be made.

"This inaccurate name plate has caused problems for residents including deliveries being unable to get to the right house.

"It's very important we accurately signpost streets in our communities because deliveries and the emergency services often need them to find houses or buildings.

"That's especially true in the pandemic when people are at home more and much more is being delivered to our doors.

"I hope this problem is corrected and the new sign is installed soon."
