Lib Dems increase vote in Gloucester

December 18, 2019 10:55 AM
Ed Davey and Gloucester Lib DemsParliamentary candidate Dr Rebecca Trimnell almost doubled the Lib Dem vote in the General Election on December 12.
Rebecca polled 4,338 votes - a 3% rise on Councillor Jeremy Hilton's result two years ago.
Conservative MP Richard Graham increased his majority to over 10,000.
Labour's vote in the city collapsed - dropping 5% in just two years - and the Green Party candidate lost their deposit.
It is the Lib Dems best result in Gloucester since 2010 and gives a good foundation for next year's local elections.
The result in full:
Richard Graham (Con) 29,159 54% +3.9%
Fran Boait (Lab) 18,882 35% −5%
Rebecca Trimnell (Lib Dem) 4,338 8% +3%
Michael Byfield (Green) 1,385 2.6% +1%
Rebecca said: "It was an amazing experience standing as the Lib Dem candidate for Gloucester.
"Very well done to Richard Graham and commiserations to Fran Boait."
